If you are looking for terrific food and a great atmosphere, Noe Restaurant in Bar is a cut above the rest. Progressive American cuisine is done perfectly, with creative takes on standard Americana executed artfully and brilliantly. Japanese and French influences come together exquisitely to make a downtown Los Angeles dining experience that must be seen to be believed.
From the moment you walk in the door, you will be struck by the amount of detail that Noe takes into account. Serene lighting and a beautiful décor create a polished and comfortable atmosphere, and the service is both prompt and friendly. If you make a reservation beforehand, the kind staff will go out of your way to quickly seat you and get you on your way to a fantastic, memorable meal.
One of the hallmarks of the Noe experience is the Spontanee Tastings. As opposed to selecting your dishes, the chef's tastings allow you to participate in a six or nine course event that allows you to taste a wide range of dishes. Each one is beautifully prepared and what you get depends on what the chef is in the mood for that day. The service is also especially knowledgeable about the wine pairings, explaining to you why each one complements the meal so very nicely. All in all, it is an experience you will not soon forget.
Otherwise, start your meal off with a first plate consisting of foie gras surf and turf, miso stuffed eggplant salad, or any of the other delicacies offered as appetizers. The entrees, though, are a story in and of themselves. Each dish is a work of art with the taste to match, such as the Maine Lobster with Dungeness Crab Risotto. Also recommended is the Japanese Snapper with edamame.
Noe is located at 251 S Olive St and is open nightly for dinner.
